Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Here is a look at what's happening at Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church this week.

A Word for This Week

Now I am ready to visit you for the third time, and I will not be a burden to you, because what I want is not your possessions but you. After all, children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for their children. So I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well. If I love you more, will you love me less? ... everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening.

— 2 Corinthians 12:14-15, 19 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, Paul's words remind us that true ministry is never about burden or possession.

It is about people, about spending ourselves freely in love. As we gather this week in worship and around the potluck table, renew in us that same spirit of selfless giving.

May everything we say and do be for the strengthening of one another, building up your church in faith and in love.

Amen.

New This Week

Cindy Manning's full sermon from August 30 is now posted on the site:

What Is the Shape of Your Cross? — Drawing on Matthew 16:21-28 and Romans 12:9-21, Cindy walks through what it means to take up your cross daily — and closes with a beautiful poem by Rev. James Lawrence that asks: what is the shape of your cross? Did you choose it? Can you bear it?
