Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
Here is a look at what's happening at Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church this week.
A Word for This Week
20 "Gather together and come;
assemble, you fugitives from the nations.
Ignorant are those who carry about idols of wood,
who pray to gods that cannot save.
21 Declare what is to be, present it—
let them take counsel together.
Who foretold this long ago,
who declared it from the distant past?
Was it not I, the Lord?
And there is no God apart from me,
a righteous God and a Savior;
there is none but me.
22 "Turn to me and be saved,
all you ends of the earth;
for I am God, and there is no other.
23 By myself I have sworn,
my mouth has uttered in all integrity
a word that will not be revoked:
Before me every knee will bow;
by me every tongue will swear.
24 They will say of me,
'In the Lord alone are deliverance and strength.'"
25 All who have raged against him.
will come to him and be put to shame. 26 But all the descendants of Israel
will find deliverance in the Lord.
and will make their boast in him.
Gracious God, you alone are righteous and you alone are Savior.
As we move through this week, turn our hearts toward you — away from the distractions and lesser things that compete for our trust.
You have spoken a word that will not be revoked: every knee will bow, every tongue will confess.
May we bow willingly this week, in faith and in gratitude, finding in you our deliverance and our strength. Amen.
New This Week
Two new posts are up on the website:
- Backpack Blessing: Sending Students Back to School with Prayer — Pastor Kay blessed the backpacks of our children and Cindy Manning as they head back to school. A reflection on the annual tradition and what it means to be faithful students of Christ.
- Jesus Walks on Water: Called Out of the Boat by Faith — A reflection on Sunday's sermon from Matthew 14:22-33. Pastor Kay's message surprised many of us: the story isn't really about the miracle. It's about faith, focus, and the immediacy of grace.
